Registration Cancellation and Refund Policy
6th Asian Legal History Conference (ALHC2026)
The Organising Committee of the 6th Asian Legal History Conference (ALHC2026) understands that unforeseen circumstances may occasionally prevent registered participants from attending the conference. Refund requests will therefore be considered on a case-by-case basis and are subject to the terms outlined below.
1. Exceptional Circumstances
Refund requests will only be considered under exceptional circumstances, including but not limited to:

Serious medical emergencies (supported by an official medical certificate)
-
Immediate family bereavement
-
Significant unforeseen events beyond the participant's control
-
Other circumstances deemed reasonable by the Organising Committee
Submission of a refund request does not guarantee approval.
2. Supporting Documentation
All refund requests must be accompanied by appropriate supporting documentation.
Examples include:

Medical certificate issued by a registered healthcare practitioner
-
Death certificate or obituary notice
-
Police report or official documentation relating to the unforeseen event
-
Other relevant supporting evidence
Incomplete requests may not be considered.
3. Refund Request Procedure
Participants seeking a refund must:

Prepare a written explanation outlining the reason for the refund request.

Attach all relevant supporting documentation.

4. Review and Decision Process
Upon receipt of a refund request, the ALHC2026 Organising Committee will:

Acknowledge receipt within five (5) business days;
-
Review the request and supporting documentation;
-
Communicate the final decision via email within fifteen (15) business days from the date of acknowledgement.
All decisions made by the Organising Committee shall be final.
5. Refund Request Deadline
Refund requests must be submitted no later than seven (7) calendar days before the conference date.
Requests received after this deadline may not be considered, except in cases involving serious medical emergencies supported by appropriate documentation.
6. Refund Amount
Approved refunds may be granted as either:

Full refund; or
-
Partial refund;
depending on the circumstances of the request and any administrative, processing, or operational costs already incurred by the organisers.
7. Administrative and Processing Charges
Approved refunds may be subject to deductions for:

Payment gateway charges;
-
Banking transaction fees;
-
Currency conversion charges (if applicable);
-
Administrative and processing costs.
Such charges are non-refundable.
8. No-Show Policy
Participants who fail to attend the conference without prior written notification shall not be eligible for any refund.
9. Transfer of Registration
Registration transfers to another participant may be considered upon written request and approval by the Organising Committee. Requests must be submitted at least seven (7) days prior to the conference date.
Additional administrative charges may apply.
10. Force Majeure
Should ALHC2026 be postponed, rescheduled, converted to a hybrid/virtual format, or cancelled due to circumstances beyond the reasonable control of the organisers, including but not limited to:

Natural disasters;
-
Government directives or restrictions;
-
Public health emergencies;
-
Acts of terrorism;
-
Civil unrest;
-
Technical or infrastructure failures;
the Organising Committee reserves the right to amend the conference format, dates, or arrangements as necessary.
Any applicable refund arrangements will be communicated to registered participants in due course.
